1970s Japanese Commodore Bass

This shortscale Japanese bass from the 1970s looks very familiar. Although it bears the Commodore brandname, it is virtually identical to instruments bearing the Epiphone and Dorodo names. Compare this to the Dorado guitar we looked at in May; a similar looking bass appears in the 1973 Dorado catalog (and on the cover too!).

Yes Its a Commdore Bass, As with The Semi 6 String, Yes These were marketed under The Epiphone Name too, Main Differance was it had a 2 side peg head.
ReplyDeleteHi, I own this Commodore bass in the photos. I bought it in London very cheaply and was just talking with a luthier about how to remove the black paint to get to original sunburst finish. When I get it back to original I will let you know.
